Lackland Air Force Base is the only location for U.S. Air Force enlisted Basic military training and is one of nine Air Education and Training Command bases of the USAF. It trains enlisted airmen out of basic training in a variety of specialties.
The Compatible Lands Foundation works to protect buffer zones around Lackland so that U.S. Air Force servicemen and women can continue to receive basic and specialty training at this important
base. Preserving open space ensures that training can continue, reduces potential conflict with adjacent landowners, and protects important habitats and natural resources.
