Compatible Lands Foundation Announces New Acting Director
January 5, 2022
The Compatible Lands Foundation (CLF) Executive Board is pleased to announce the appointment of retired Army Lt. Col. Joseph Knott as Acting Executive Director of CLF effective January 5, 2022.
As Acting Executive Director, Knott will lead CLF’s initiatives to promote land conservation, protect military readiness, and develop opportunities for training and knowledge exchange in the conservation community. He will further strengthen CLF’s long-standing track record of land protection and partnership development and promote future growth by securing funding to support partnerships with additional installations.
Knott has a successful history within CLF and has played a key role as the Director of Military Partnerships since 2012. In that capacity, he expanded CLF’s partnerships to include 13 installations in 8 states.
Knott came to CLF after a 33-year career in the U.S. Army that included assignments in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the Pentagon. Immediately after retirement, he worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense supporting the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) program.
“We are delighted to appoint Joe as the Acting Executive Director,” Scott Farley, CLF Board President said. “His professional background combined with his proven ability to identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and lead initiatives, will help build on CLF’s past success and greatly increase CLF’s preservation of critical conservation landscapes and vital natural resources across the United States.”
