Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center (CSJFTC) encompasses more than 134,000 acres and is primarily located in portions of Perry and Forrest Counties with a small portion in Greene County, in south Mississippi. The training center supports Reserve Components of the Army, and the Active Components of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force. The training site consists of a mix of State, Department of Defense, and U.S. Forest Service lands in the DeSoto National Forest.
Located near two highways, the city of Hattiesburg’s primary industrial park and a municipal airport, Camp Shelby is threatened by development that would impact its readiness mission. To protect an assault landing airstrip, tank range maneuver sites, artillery, and other weapons firing ranges, the camp has a unique partnership with CLF, the U.S. Forest Service, and others.
