Camp Bullis is comprised of more than 27,000 acres in Bexar County, Texas, just northwest of San Antonio. The Camp is the only field training location for Joint Base San Antonio. Combat medical training and field certification for all enlisted Department of Defense personnel is conducted here. It also provides unit level airborne and ground training areas for the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and Special Operations.

Surrounded by dense urban development, Camp Bullis faces numerous challenges that threaten its long-term sustainability such as water availability from aquifers, wildland fires, and flash floods. Development increases ambient light pollution and displaces wildlife populations onto Camp Bullis which negatively impact night training and restrict areas available to train.

CLF conservation and resiliency efforts here are integrated with over fifty partner conservation organizations, land trusts and government agencies operating within the Camp Bullis Sentinel Landscape. Natural resources here include the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers, habit for the Mexican free-tailed bat, golden-cheeked warbler and other threatened or endangered species.

CLF has protected 893 acres around Camp Bullis and continues to work with local landowners to protect its critical training capacity. Conservation of the last remaining rural lands around the Camp also provides opportunities for improved land management, preservation of legacy family ranches, working lands, open vistas, and other precious
natural resources of Texas Hill Country.
